Classes
Class Details
Through regular training the RSD (Realistic Self Defence) programme encapsulates every aspect of personal safety and is designed to build upon competencies gained in each grade which functions as a growth indicator in confidence and competence for members. We prefer students to take this route as training in a group brings it own competencies, builds confidence and makes scenario training simpler all of which are beneficial in any Self Defence training. Each class is themed, this helps the student understand what he or she is going to learn and will set to improve the students self awareness, self confidence and technique. Most students see results in a matter of just a few weeks. Gradings periods happen every four months and the students goals and how well progress has been made against the syllabus are monitored periodically with feedback from the student and during grading periods.
Lesson Structure
A typical class consists of the following components please remember that during each class you should show your respect to the training area and to each partner that you train with.
Physical
The first 15 minutes is deticated to a physical designed to warm up muscles to be used in the lesson subject material.
Breakfalls
Approx 15 minutes of either group directed or push-and-shove based breakfall practice.
Programme
This is 20 minutes worth of group directed tuition on the 'subject of the week'.
Syllabus
20 minutes for members to practice techniques from their relevant gradeable material. Although the classes are of mixed ability, the student will train predominantly with people of the same ability to build your confidence and learn at your own level.
Circles
The last 20 minutes of each class gives us time to pressure test our blocks / techniques against all other members. Circles is useful for the student because some techniques that work for some may not work for others and this may be due to height, build, technical ability etc of the student. This will give the student increased confidence when dealing with a bigger / stronger opponent .
